Expedition To Taylor Park, Colorado

All of us remember the feeling we get when we involve ourselves in something really exciting for the first time. Maybe for you it was the first ball game you played in, or the first time you went hunting with your dad. It could be the first movie you went to see, or a concert. We have all  been lying in our beds the night before an exciting event with the inability to sleep because we are so looking forward to what the next day and the experience hold for us. The feeling I am referring to seems to come less often as we get older, but there is nothing like that anticipation of something special.

Introductory Note: Much of the perceived confusion among battery users of all types, and in particular for power sports enthusiasts, is largely due to the wide variety of construction methods used in making lead acid batteries. Although for the most part, the electro- chemical workings of these differently constructed lead acid batteries is very similar, manufacturers recommend that these batteries be used in different applications and that they be charged by slightly different methods.

PLANNING AHEAD FOR YOUR ATV TRIP AND KNOWING THE RULES AND REGS
How to have a safe and fun ride without any troubles

Responsible ATV riders generally don’t get themselves into situations that involve the words “search parties” and “rescue crews.” They avoid those scenarios by following the tips listed here:
•    Ride with a partner. It is really hard to ride an ATV with a broken arm! Riding solo can leave you vulnerable in case of an accident or breakdown.
•    Check that your OHV is in proper working condition, all fluids are topped off, and there are no loose or broken parts.

FREEDOM TO EXPLORE

Physically disabled riders find ATVs to be “the great equalizer”

For many physically disabled people, the quest for outdoor recreation is just as strong as it is for able-bodied folks. Avid hunters, fishermen, archers, snow skiers, and snowmobilers don't allow their various disabilities to stand in the way of their favorite outdoor sports. In fact, many clubs and organizations for disabled people offer a calendar of events filled with outdoor experiences. Adaptive Sportsmen

KIDS AND ATVs
Getting Them Started Right

Off-road riding is a great family activity. It’s a chance for young people to learn new skills and develop self-confidence, and parents find exploring the out-of-doors a wonderful way to spend time with their kids. Along with the fun and adventure, off-roading involves special responsibilities for parents and young people. Even the smallest ATV is relatively heavy and should be respected and never treated like a toy.

Basically, two of the worst-case scenarios for ATV riders are A) having an accident during a ride, or B) seeing your favorite riding areas get shut down. The first one leaves you at best with bumps and bruises on your body and machine, while the other results in your beloved quad on the front lawn with a big For Sale sign on the handlebars. Both of these sorry situations appear to be out of your control. Or are they?

We took a close look at helmets in {include_title_only_href 224}, the single most important piece of riding gear every ATV rider should have. Now we’ll discuss what to look for when purchasing goggles, gloves, and riding boots.

When it comes to helmets, the decision to wear one can be a matter of life or death in the event of a bad spill. So obviously a helmet is the single most important piece of riding gear an OHV enthusiast can wear. Those of us who always wear helmets often wonder what the problem is with folks who refuse to do so. Modern helmets are actually very comfortable and lightweight, providing the rider with a lot of confidence and protection from the elements. Many off-road helmets are also vented, so getting too hot is no longer a valid excuse for not wearing one. Of course, if you happen to be riding in an area where it’s against the law to ride without a helmet, well you aren’t going to have a choice!

Over the past couple of decades, ATVs have embedded themselves deep into the hunting culture. They’ve become such an important tool that many hunters now wonder how they ever got along without them. However, the use of ATVs by hunters has also sparked up controversy, and it usually is the result of some riders not following common-sense courtesy rules or fair-chase procedures.

We four-wheelers are naturally conscientious folks, and are always concerned about our impact on the environment. Unfortunately, we sometimes are faced with leaks and spills from our vehicles.
Engine oil, transmission oil, gear oil, brake fluid and radiator fluid can have a devastating effect on the environment and wildlife. Radiator fluid is particularly hazardous, as its sweet taste makes it attractive to mammals. Worse, it doesn't take much to kill. One teaspoon of ethanol glycol will kill a cat; three tablespoons

It’s easy nowadays to rely entirely on a GPS receiver to direct you during a trip. Just program in your destination, and let the friendly voice and digital map guide you along the way. But like any electronic gadget, a GPS unit has its limitations, and you can end up in trouble if you’re not careful. Plus, they can lose power or

Maintaining Your ATV
Whether you have a four-wheeler, dirt bike, side-by-side, or a truck to take you off-road, maintenance is the key to getting many years of enjoyment out of your ATV. An amazing fact is that many people never (I mean never) do any regular maintenance on their ATVs.
