Sportsman X2 XP 550The BIG NEWS around ATVESCAPE.COM is our new test machine from Polaris is on the way!!!! We are so excited to be getting a Polaris Sportsman X2 550 to put through the paces during our next long term test. We have big plans for this machine including a trip to Arkansas for some great trail riding and rock crawling. This summer we are taking another trip to Taylor Park and Crested Butte Colorado to put it through several days of adventure in high altitude,s and long day rides to really see how comfortable is this machine over the long haul. As a work horse with a pickup bed (one of the only two on the market), we will see how it does around the farm and ranch. This machine does not have power steering, so there exists quite a bit of excitement to see how the steering geometry works without EPS. The Sportsman X2 converts to a 2-up machine as an added bonus, so many call it the ultimate ATV. Quite frankly it may very well be as it wears multiple hats as a pickup with a dump bed, a second seat people hauler, and an all around trail runner with plenty of power. We shall see, we shall see. We will be adding a winch and some aftermarket tires to round out the machine.  So hold on tight for a thorough review, a photo gallery of two, and some videos. You all will be the FIRST to know when it comes in. Stay tuned..........

The X2 is the Perfect ATV camping machine

The Polaris X2 is ideal for ATV camping because the dump bed can carry so much camping gear without affecting the handling of the machine. It is also a very stable machine with the extended wheelbase. IMO the older Sportsman X2's were the best because they allowed for larger tires without modification. With the longer wheel base clearance becomes an issue when rock crawling so larger tires is a must on the X2 for this type of riding. The 550 and 850 X2's and Touring models have a bracket in front of the rear tires that inhibits the use of larger tires unless a lift kit is installed. Otherwise the improved power of the 550 and 850 is substantial.
