Managing Friends

One of the main purposes of ATV Escape is to connect people with one another.  The "Friends" application allows you to connect with and manage the profiles of those whith whom you choose to interact.  Here is a brief tutorial on how to use this application.

Connecting With Others

When you are logged onto atvescape.com, you can request a connection with another person's profile.  First locate the person's or club's profile you wish to add as a friend or a connection. You can do that by searching for profiles in the community profile lists, or finding people or clubs through other profiles. Next, request a connection with that person or club.  The image below shows how to request a friend or connection.

First, click on the profile you wish to view.  Next, click on Friends and then on Send Friend Request. A box will pop up with the option to add a message to the friend request.  Be sure to click Send or the friend request will not get sent.  They will receive a personal message and an email (depending on their settings) informing them you have requested a connection with them to become friends. Once the other party confirms the friend request (see below) then the two parties will be connected as friends.  They will then be seen in your friends list on your profile.  Until the other party confirms your request you can can cancel the friend request by going to that profile and clicking on Friends and then Cancel Friend Request. 

Accepting and Confirming Friend Requests

When you receive a connection or friend request, you will need to follow the link on the email or personal message to the Manage Actions tab.  You can also get to this tab by clicking on My Friends on the User Menu.

From the Manage Actions tab you can accept or deny a friend request.  Select the green check mark to accept it or the red "x" to deny the request; then Select Update for the changes to take effect.  By default the green check mark is selected, so all you have to do is click on the Update button.

Managing Your Friends

When you select the My Friends link on the User Menu, you will return to the tabs you see above.  If you select the Manage Friends tab you will see this screen.

From this tab you can select a "Type" for each of your friends or connections and add a comment as well.  The friend "Type" can be helpful as you can sort your friends by these types.  You will notice also on the left-hand side there are some icons.  The red "X" allows you to cancel your connection with that profile, the little person takes you to that profile, and the "PM" allows you to send this profile a personal message from here.  You can also do all of these things by clicking on their profile picture from the Friends section on Your profile page.
