Introducing the NEW 2012 Polaris RZR-4 XP900
UTVUnderground and Polaris Industries Introduce the Newest UTV to Hit the Market
San Diego, CA- 1/20/12 - UTVUnderground.com along with the industries top media outlets were invited to Parker, AZ in early January by Polaris Industries for a special event surrounding Polaris' newest sport model UTV. Polaris staff unveiled the new 2012 Polaris RZR-4 XP900 in spectacular fashion and during one of the area's busiest weekends.
The weekend kicked off at the opening round of the 2012 Best In The Desert racing series where the factory Polaris race team of Jagged-X would introduce a new UTV race car that they built in conjunction with Polaris specifically for this race and this event. The UTV was a slightly modified 2012 Polaris RZR-4 XP900 that Jagged-X converted into a 2 seat desert race UTV equipped with BITD legal cage/chassis, communication & navigation systems, and required safety items. Despite 30 minutes of down time due to a flat tire, the new RZR-4 XP900 Jagged-X race car still finished in the top 10. The idea behind the concept was for Polaris to show that they have produced a UTV that from the factory and with very minor modifications is race worthy and able to withstand the elements that a harsh desert race throws at it. The idea was to instill confidence in us that the machine itself with easily take on what the average recreational driver will throw at it. Production Line - Start Line - Finish Line was the motto!
In the days following the event, Polaris took all of us out to a site located just off part of the days prior race course. Here is where Polaris would unveil the factory machines to us and allow UTVUnderground to put the new platform to the test. The new RZR-4 XP900 posses all of the characteristics of the 2 seat version plus more. The new unit employs factory Walker Evans Racing race shocks, Electronic Power Steering, and industry best wheel base. Coupled with the XP900's wide track width and rear trailing arm suspension the machine is by far one of the most capable desert UTV's ever produced. We had more than our share of fun in the desert of Parker, AZ traversing whoops, sand dunes, washes, and tight desert trails. The machine excelled in every way possible and the best part of the whole day is when it ended we were able to take our very own machine home with us!
Once loaded up UTVUnderground got together with Jon of www.UTVGuide.net, Wally of Dirt Sports Magazine, Eli of ATV Rider Magazine, and a host of others to take our new units and shred up the fresh blown sands of Glamis Sand Dunes. Here was where we really unleashed our machines and exposed their capabilities. The RZR-4 XP900 had no problem traversing the massive Glamis Dunes in 2wd and the gnarly whoop section that lines the base of Oldsmobile Hill was no match for the power and wheel base of the RZR-4 XP900. We blasted through the dunes for hours before calling it a trip and heading on home.
