General Description:
This
trail, in the Groom Creek area, offers a fairly easy day hike or ride
to a ridge overlooking upper Goldwater Lake from the southeast.
The trail leaves the Senator Highway at an elevation of about 6200 feet and climbs about 250 feet in .6 miles to Deer Lick Spring. Water may be available in a trough here for horses. The trail then turns southeast and climbs to the top of the ridge to an elevation of 6840 feet. After reaching the highest point, the trail heads almost due south for .8 miles to where it intersects FR 52A (Spruce Mt. Lookout Road).
Directions:
From
Prescott, Take Senator Highway (FR 52) for approximately six miles. The
trailhead is signed on the east side of the road, just past Goldwater
Lake and about .1 miles before the turnoff to FR 62.

Normally Accessible: Spring - Early Winter (Recommended Seasons, although Summer time is very hot.)
