The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District will be collecting information on roads and trails to help implement a comprehensive travel system for all modes of travel (motorized and non-motorized) as part of the Resource Management Plan (RMP) effort. Public workshops will be held to obtain input from the public and other stakeholders and provide information on the travel management planning process.

The workshop objectives are:

  • Provide an overview of how travel management and route designations coincide with the RMP effort.
  • Obtain information on routes, uses, and conflicts in high-use areas on BLM-administered lands.
  • Have participants identify existing access points and other issues regarding travel on BLM-administered lands.

The workshops will be held:
          Wednesday, October 10, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
          John Ascuaga's Nugget
          Poolside Terrace Room
          1100 Nugget Avenue
          Reno, Nevada

          Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

          100 Campus Way, Fallon, NV

          Thursday, October 18, 2012, from, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
          Carson Valley Inn
          Pinenut/Douglas Room
          1627 U.S. Highway 395 North

BLM staff will be available to answer questions. Comment forms will be provided to collect public input. For more information, and to view the draft route inventory maps, go to: (Click on the link to the Carson City District Resource Management Plan Revision, and then the link to maps).

Input gathered during the workshops will help the BLM create a comprehensive route inventory. This route inventory will form the basis for a system of designated routes to guide all modes of travel in the Carson City District. A range of route designation options will be presented for public comment alongside the Draft RMP, currently scheduled to be released in spring 2014.

For more information regarding the workshops or the RMP, please contact Colleen Sievers, project manager, at (775) 885-6000.

Thanks in advance and, as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact BRC.
