The trails are getting in bad shape. I know with all the rain, but where are the forest workers? Downed trees every where. We love the trails and come often.
You can start off in the valley and climb your way to the top of mnt magazine or start from the top and crawl down the mountain. Either way its fun and exciting. Trails are marked and the scenery is awesome. The trails are being smoothed down so side by sides can easily use this trail now. Must do ride
Rode the trails April of 2019. In two days we rode 103 miles, with the intention of discovering if the trails were good enough to return later for more mile. They are! These are very fun trails. These trails are better than Mena and there are more miles of trails than Mena. Only problems we had were: 1. High water in Big Shoal Creek did not allow for crossings. 2. The map from the visitor center is not the greatest map for the area. Print the MVUM map and bring with you are view and track on the Avenza Map App. The visitor center map was missing a lot of trails and we took several wrong turns. We stayed at Mount Magazine Lodge and trailered to the Horse Camp Trail Head. Close and easy. We'll be back at a later date.
Also known as Mount Magazine OHV Trails. We went during the Fall, but Arkansas had a low rain year so it was dusty, hardly any water, but I gave water a (4) because there were a bunch of creeks (if there would have been water in them). THE MUST SEE: Buzzard Point, Rock Wall/Cave, Wildman Twin Falls, Lostman Falls/Cascade, Magazine's Lodge/Cabins (one of the most beautiful lodges in Arkansas), and just the pure scenery Magazine offers. Magazine is the highest point in Arkansas, located West of Russellville, AR and South of Paris, AR. We were unaware of the Lostman and Wildman Falls, but I have seen pictures, and Wow! I plan on my next trip back to adventure to these Falls. BTW, Parking at the Magazine Trailhead Parking Lot, going down the mountain to get to the main trails are pretty rough, but once you make it to the dirt road at the bottom, everything is smooth sailing from there. Defiantly going back someday!
This is one of our favorites places to ride and test machine. You can set up camp and ride for several days. Be sure to get a good map and a GPS would be highly recommended.
Very good trail.Lots of water crossings. Good variety of everything. A group of rode there one day when the high was 11 F. I don't know how cold it was by the time we loaded up.
