Welcome The 2019 Polaris ATV's & Side-by-Side's Hot
Welcome The 2019 Polaris ATV's & Side-by-Side's
Polaris has officially taken the wraps off of their 2019 model lineup. There are significant updates across the entire lineup with more options, special edition models, and Ride Command-equipped vehicles than ever before. With many of the best-selling vehicles in the industry under the Polaris brand, this was a significant release for the company as they refine their side-by-side lineup to include a vast array of options for almost any buyer.
We’ll be featuring a full overview in the next issue of ATV & UTV ESCAPE Magazine (September/October 2018). For now, let’s dive into the significant news and updates…
The biggest news for the Ranger family is that Ride Command is now available in select models, bringing the technology to this best-selling lineup for the first time as a factory-installed option. New special editions are also available, including the new High Lifter Edition and the 20th Anniversary Edition. The latter model features several upgrades that commemorate this significant year for Ranger, especially since, according to Polaris, the Ranger has been the best selling utility machine for 10-years straight. The 20th Anniversary Edition will be built in limited quantities and will feature a two-tone maroon and tan color combination on the exterior and specific embroidered seats.
The Polaris RZR family has seen a shakeup for the 2019 model year, namely with the addition of the S4 1000 trail model and the restyling of the RZR XP lineup to better match the design language unveiled with the Turbo S.
The RZR S4 1000 is a 60”, purpose-built trail machine that features 100 horsepower out of the ProStar powerplant. The ability to carry 4 passengers down the trail with this much horsepower will be a boon for the trail riders out there. The semi-compact wheelbase should ensure that this machine can still boogy down the trails with the best of the 4-seat vehicles out there. We’ll have to wait for a first ride to determine if this machine will be as nimble as other vehicles in the class, like the Yamaha Wolverine X4, Kawasaki Teryx 4, and the Honda Pioneer 5.
Other news in the RZR lineup comes in the form of the aforementioned restyling of the XP lineup, which includes the XP 1000 and XP Turbo models. The XP 1000 lineup now includes a Dynamix Edition that includes the fancy FOX LiveValve suspension system that was previously only available on Turbo units. The new styling on all XP vehicles has the same front end styling found on the recently released Turbo S, which doesn’t change for the new model release. Furthermore, the interior of the XP’s get reworked to include the all-new aesthetics, including better storage systems, a much better digital dash (a la General), and designated switch cutouts that make adding accessories a snap, literally. The XP Turbo models have been condensed to now only include EPS, EPS LE, and carryover Dynamix Edition models.
We think one very popular feature will be the included full doors on the RZR XP 4 1000 Ride Command and Dynamix editions. We have been asking for full doors on a RZR vehicle (from the factory) for many years, and we are excited that Polaris has included these lower inserts to complete the package on this model.
On the Accessory front for the RZR lineup, Polaris has developed new bumpers and windshields that you can get installed before you even pick up your machine. These bumpers are revised to fit the new body styling of the XP lineup. Full and half poly windshields fully seal to the cab and install with Lock & Ride technology.
The General lineup soldiers on with 2- and 4-seat variants with little more than BNG’s for the new year. That doesn’t take away from the fact that the General and General 4 are always vying for the top spot in the sport/rec class with their feature-rich cabins and plethora of space. Ample engine power and suspension also ensure that this lineup has what it takes to tackle almost any terrain.
On the Accessory side of the General family, there is a significant upgrade to several systems. The Polaris Pulse electrical system is now included in the General. This system offers full plug-and-play capability so that users can easily install light bars, audio systems, and more to the factory installed, fully secure connection. Also new is the 4-seat poly roof that includes a full headliner for an automotive-style look and fit-and-finish. Last but not least, improved full poly cab doors are now available for 2019. Polaris equipped these sealed doors with a push-out window that includes tempered glass.
The Sportsman ATV family is another lineup that soldiers on for the new year with minimal updates. EPS models receive a recalibrated electric power steering control unit that should improve feel and feedback through the bars. BNG’s grace the lineup for the new model year as well.
There was no news on the Scrambler front for 2019. It looks as if the 850 and XP 1000 versions soldier on as the same models from 2018.
The ACE lineup is another Polaris vehicle family that soldiers on for the 2019 model year with no signficicant updates. Most of the focus in Polaris’ single-seat lineup has been placed on the recently introduced RZR RS1. The 500, 570 EPS, and 900 XC ACE models are sticking around for the new year.
The Youth lineup stayed the same for this year. As of note, Polaris just released the Ranger 150 several months ago, which you can read about here.
Ride Command has received a User Interface (UI) update that includes a few more buttons and a revised screen configuration with new menu items and enhanced UI screens. We are excited to see the changes in person and experience the differences, especially when paired with the Dynamix suspension technology, etc…
