 2020 Polaris General XP Lineup

2020 Polaris General XP lineup

Available in both 2- and 4-seat models, Polaris is adding a wider and more capable General to the lineup, appropriately named the General XP 1000 and XP 4 1000.

The General XP will essentially be the same General that we know and appreciate for its trail prowess and passenger comfort, but this XP model has a couple additions that make it even more capable, including:

  • 64-inch Stance with More Aggressive Styling and Increased Performance & Comfort
  • Oversized 30-inch Pro Armor Crawler Tires
  • 14 Inches of Matched Front and Rear Wheel Travel
  • Class-Leading 13.5-inch Ground Clearance

The most significant addition is the 64" stance, which is an increase of 4" total, 2" per side. With the wider stance comes more front and rear suspension travel – 14" front and rear. That's about an inch more suspension travel compared to the standard 60" model. The 30" tires should help this vehicle get up and over obstacles in the trail easier, and this tire swap is an upgrade that most people do to their vehicle anyways. So, it will be nice to have the bigger meats on the vehicle from the factory.

Another addition that we really appreciate is the standard 4500 lb winch mounted in the sport low-profile bumper. This will be key for anyone out on the trail.

Increasing the capability even further are arched a-arms to take advantage of the ground clearance. Walker Evans Velocity Shocks provide the dampening over rough terrain. We are excited to see how these work in the real world – the General has always been a good performer in the rough terrain keeping the ride smooth and stable.

On the inside, the General XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 will carry on the General tradition of being comfortable with plentiful storage throughout. In addition, we were wondering where the Ride Command-equipped General was after the MY2020 Polaris introduction – it was nowhere to be found! Here it is on the XP lineup, but we are still curious to see if Ride Command will make it back to the 60" General lineup?! Not every buyer is going to want the wider vehicle, so we hope they bring back the technology setup to the standard General editions, too.

Other features that standout on this machine are the standard LED headlights, high-coverage fender flares, stage-1 audio system from Rockford Fosgate in the non-Ride Command-equipped General, stage 4 Rockford Fosgate audio system in the Ride Command-equipped XP model, and 1500 lb towing capacity with the standard 2" receiver.

Overall, the new General XP lineup puts together thoughtful additions to this capable machine. We look forward to getting behind the wheel!

The GENERAL XP 1000 lineup is available in all-new Matte Navy Blue and a Glossy Stealth Grey starting at $22,999, while the GENERAL XP 4 1000 begins at $24,999. The GENERAL XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 machines will begin shipping to dealers in October.
