2020 Polaris RZR PRO XP 4 First Look
Did you see it coming? Good, so did we… True to Polaris’ recent history, the brand unveiled the 4-seat version, named the RZR PRO XP 4, of their new RZR PRO XP lineup just before their annual Camp RZR extravaganza in the Glamis sand dunes.
The all-new PRO XP lineup is going to be expanded over the years, so don’t be disappointed that the 4-seat version remains at 64” wide for the time being. There is so much more to this super sport UTV that just a width measurement.
Starting out, you’ll notice that the styling remains true to the new “PRO” lineup. The shark fin nose and now signature LED lighting remain, as do the full half doors. However, the 4-seat PRO model has a fully closed half door, which is something we have been hoping and praying for! This should be a welcomed addition to the 4-seat RZR lineup. The 30” Maxxis Carnivore 2.0 tires remain on the 4-seat version, as does the availability of Dynamix active suspension technology, which will be available on Ultimate trim levels (more on the three different trim levels in a minute…).
On the inside, the purposeful upgrades that we first saw in the PRO XP 2-seater make their way into the 4-seat platform, including the new seats, completely new storage and dash systems, and latest creature comforts. Obviously the 4-seater expands upon those creature comforts with 2 more seats in the back, which are positioned for optimal rear-seat passenger views out the front. Plus, for those of us who like to have 4-passengers sometimes and 2-passengers other times, the back seats now fold flat, giving the driver extra storage space. An ingenious idea for sure!
A CVT transmission remains the only system that transfers the power to the ground. Speaking of power, the engine is a pumped-up version of the now ubiquitous Turbo-equipped parallel twin engine. It now puts out a healthy 181 horsepower, perfect for making sure you can dominate the dunes or the trails, all while taking 3 passengers along for the ride.
Other thoughtful features are the rear cargo area, which now has step-sides, which function as spare tire holders. Again, this is another ingenious idea, mainly because you can haul your spare tire and still put other items under it in the multi purpose cargo bed.
True to form, Polaris has also released a plethora of accessories that are ready to be fitted to the RZR PRO XP 4 right from the factory. These will be available at dealers immediately.
And, what about those 3 different trim levels? The top-of-the-line model is named the Ultimate edition, and it comes complete with steering wheel controls for Dynamix 2.0 suspension technology, Ride Command, and a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system completing the package. Slotting under the Ultimate package, the Premium edition forgoes the Ride Command System and Dynamix 2.0 suspension, but it still has features like a full lighting package, multi-point harness system to secure passengers, premium paint finishes, and a completely new storage system. The base model forgoes all the techy features, but it is still capable with the powertrain and components that matter. If you’re going to customize one of these and don’t care about Ride Command or the Dynamix active suspension technology, the base model is a good buy.
Now, for the, ahhhemmm, prices…
Full disclosure, the RZR PRO XP 4 is NOT cheap, no matter what trim level you are looking at. Will it be worth the high entry price? We’ll be driving the different models soon, so please stay tuned. Our very honest opinions are forthcoming…
The base model retails for $25,699 MSRP; the Premium model comes in at $27,999 MSRP; and, the Ultimate edition is (yikes!) slated to start at $32,299 MSRP.

Visionary Design: Built from the Inside Out with Every Passenger In Mind
Just like the RZR PRO XP, the new four-seater keeps the driver at the center of everything – with a lower seating position, improved adjustability and thoughtful interior design that delivers perfect ergonomics. The PRO XP 4 adds to that industry-leading design with even more advancements specifically designed for the rear passengers. Slightly elevated rear seating creates best-in-class sightlines for rear passengers, while four more inches of shoulder room and three more inches of leg room delivers unmatched comfort for a full day of riding.
Boasting the same menacing look as the PRO XP, the PRO XP 4 offers interior and exterior LED lighting and blue LED accent strips that line the cockpit for improved nighttime visibility. The PRO XP 4 is complete with dash storage and a latching center console, as well as the industry’s first rear “fold flat” storage. The new design allows riders to fold down the backseats to create additional storage behind the driver and front passenger offering over 16 cubic feet of storage space.
Pro Performance: A New Standard for Four-Seat Performance
With 181 horsepower, the PRO XP 4 is fitted with a larger turbo to create more boost, and a power band focused on snappier acceleration between 20 and 50 miles-per-hour. The all-new 64-inch PRO XP 4 machines debut with an industry-leading 22 inches of usable suspension travel, comparable to the RZR XP 4 Turbo S.
The chassis of the RZR PRO XP 4 is on a level of its own. With a 125-inch wheelbase, the longest of any RZR ever created, the supreme length not only delivers unmatched comfort and storage, but delivers next-level stability through high-speed whoops and dune transitions. Fuel capacity was also increased by two gallons, for a 13-gallon tank.
As the top-of-the-line four-seater, the RZR PRO XP 4 Ultimate features an entirely new calibration for DYNAMIX. Paired with upgraded FOX® 2.5 Live Valve Shocks, DYNAMIX 2.0 is easy to operate and includes conveniently placed steering wheel controls. The DYNAMIX ‘X’ button sends the system to full firm to prevent bottoming out in high-speed surprise events. All in, this machine transfers weight faster, is more agile and keeps the vehicle flatter – increasing confidence and comfort for all four riders.
