trail is primarily a cattle trail. It is used occasionally for
recreational horseback riding, but rarely for hiking. The winter
headquarters of the Pine Flat Co. are located near the south trailhead.
trail travels from just north of the Pine Flat Co. winter headquarters
at Sand Flat and climbs around the east side of Secret Pocket to Secret
Tank. The trail is difficult to follow in places.
Precautions: This trail is difficult to follow and has no drinking water.
Chino Valley, From town, take FR 354 for about 25 miles north past
Perkinsville to FR 179. Take FR 179 to the right for 3.5 miles, passing
the Pine Flat Ranch headquarters and TR #60 trailhead. FR 179 is
suitable for high clearance vehicles in fair weather. An alternate
access would be to come in from Drake via FR 492 to FR 354. FR 354
south of the National Forest Boundary is quite rough, not maintained,
and suitable for high clearance vehicles only in fair weather.
