Service Tips & Tricks For Your Can-Am Clutches

Can-Am Clutch Parts

While we do appreciate the fact that many dealerships around the country have great service departments, we also like to do our own maintenance on our vehicles. If you're in the ATV or side-by-side world these days, then you know that many of the different models out there have a CVT transmission with a primary and secondary clutch that is connected via a drive belt. Many people think that the drive belt is the only service item that needs to be attended to. However, in reality, you should be performing basic maintenance on your CVT clutches on a regular basis. Little things like blowing the dust out of the clutches can really help extend longevity of the parts inside of the clutches, as well as the clutches themselves.

Many people also want to keep on top of their clutches by prematurely replacing parts that are prone to wearing. One of those parts are the roller pins that are located in the secondary clutch. You will know if these get dirty or damaged because the vehicle will start taking off from a dead start in a harsh manner, surging as you take off. That's when you know that you need to replace the roller pins, and, typically, that would be a heck of a pain in the butt.

We were recently notified that GBoost technology has released this Can-Am-specific roller pin removal tool, and it retails for a nifty $99.95. This corrosion-resistant tool is made to remove the roller pins without damaging the clutches themselves. The tool is heat treated and zinc plated to encourage longevity and strength. Plus, the tool fits all 2017-2020 Can-Am Maverick X3 models, including the 900 H.O. model.
